Isaiah’s Cry

Isaiah's Cry is no stranger to Southern Gospel music. Although you may be hearing the name for the first time, you've most likely heard and/or saw them before. On stage, you'll find Ernie and Brenda Ferguson, Eric and Charlotte Baker, and Eric and Charlotte's two children, Austin and AbbiGayle. Even though they started singing as children, they made their way onto the national scene in 2001. It was just after Charlotte had written and released a song that would forever change her life entitled, "When I Start My Day With You". At the time It was Eric and Charlotte singing with Charlotte's mother as the Sons Family. Ernie Ferguson was their bass player, sound engineer, bus driver, and fellow song writer of the group.

"Ernie's what we call the everything-man", says Eric, "If it can be done, Ernie will figure it out." That first release grabbed the attention of DJs and fans across the country. Before long, they were traveling full time, seeing different parts of North America, and all the while doing what the love... sharing the Love of Jesus.

    In 2007 Eric, Charlotte, Ernie and his wife Brenda began a new chapter in their lives when they started a group called Sunday Drive Ministry. This time they added Ernie's wife, Brenda, as their piano player, and Eric and Charlotte's children, Austin, on guitar, and AbbiGayle on the drums. Not sure how the fans or the industry would accept them, they ventured out on what has proven to be an inspirational journey. "It was like starting all over again", says Eric, "I thought we could take our old contacts, and just keep going. And although we have performed at the many of the churches we did as the Sons Family, it been a whole new set of doors that has been opened up to us, and areas we had never been to before".

     In the middle of 2010, they learned that the name, Sunday Drive Ministry, had a legal conflict, and would have to be changed. The met with their record company, and radio promoters, and decided to host an on-line contest where the fans would help pick the new name. "We received more names than we knew what to do with", laughs Charlotte, "We never dreamed so many would get involved." Even after sorting through all the names that came in, there was only one name that couldn't be dismissed. "It was the only name that we connected to spiritually as soon as we all heard it", states Brenda. "The name Isaiah's Cry just seemed to click with all of us", says Ernie, "we all began re-reading the book of Isaiah, and for us, it's a call that we need to hear today just as they did then. But it's a cry to come back to the God of our fathers... What more does the world need to hear?"

   As they gear up for their next recording, they want to encourage all the fans of the past and present to continue watching and waiting for more exciting things to come. Their next album is due to be released in the summer of 2011 with Chapel Valley Studios. Ladies and gentlemen, let's make welcome, ISAIAH'S CRY!!!!
